Can Tapeworm Go Away On Its Own?

Q: Can tapeworm in my cat go away on its own? The symptoms appear to have gone.

A: There are two ways of looking at this, firstly, maybe the cat didn't have tapeworm in the first place and secondly, if the cat did, and the symptoms have dissappeared, it is a temporary situation. The short answer to this question, is NO, tapeworm will not go away by itself.

If the symptoms appear to have gone away because you have been unable to administer the tablets to your cat, then you either need to seek an alternative method of administering the medicine, or seek a vet nurse's help with giving your cat the tablets. Most importantly, don't for one minute think that your cat has cured itself, this doesn't happen, and if you continue under this misapprehension, it will eventually end in tears for you and your cat.
