My Cat Keeps Twitching And Biting His Shoulders - Why?
Q: My cat keeps twitching and biting his shoulders - Why?
A: The first obvious answer is that a cat that bites its shoulders probably has fleas. An inspection of your cat may help figure out the problem. An inspection of the cat's basket may also be in order. If not fleas, then there may be something else irritating the cat.
A good de-flea may be the start of a process of elimination, and if that does not improve situation then further action has to be taken. Many things can irritate a cat, it could be roughness of the top of the cat flap, or any number of things. If after investigation of your house nothing appears obvious then a specialist should be consulted. Another issue is your cats general behaviour. It the cat is really out of sorts, and perhaps not eating, then the process of elimination should be cut short, and a vet should be consulted immediately - this may be just a phone call at first, or perhaps a visit. If your vet suggests cat wormer, it can be bought over the internet (see below).
