White Poo, No Worms
Q: I was cleaning my cats litter box and she had white faeces in there - no worms but looked like snow poo, what could this be?
A: Firstly you might want to change your cat's diet for a few days and see what happens. Often, 'snow poo' is the result of the cats diet, as starchy additives in cat food can result in lighter coloured poo. This can also happen with humans, and another way to look at it would be to ask what would expect your cat's poo to be like if it was fed on a steady diet of vindaloo or chile relleno?
Hopefully this answers the question, but brings to light an urban myth that was doing the rounds in the 1970s. White dog poo that has the appearance of a blinding bleached white was quite common. The myth is that it was attributed to white dogs such as West Highland White Terriers - obviously this was nonsense, and again the answer lay in the additives to dog food.
