I have a 1 1/2 year old male cat. About 8 weeks ago we noticed he had lost a lot of weight almost over night (about 8 lbs). I’ve dewormed him with whip, tape and round worm wormers. His fecal tests were all negative but we wormed him again anyway. His blood tests are normal, negative for FIV or Heartworm. He eats normal, drinks lots of water, bowels are normal (no worms), no vomitting, very active still, friendly and playful. Just losing lots of weight. I also have a 1 year old female cat and she is not sick at all. They share food and water bowls and share a litter box. She is an inside/outside cat, he is strictly inside. Neither one have fleas.
The only thing wrong with him is reoccuring ear mites. Would ear mites cause weight loss like this? She does NOT have ear mites.

I have a 10 year old persian cat called Sinatra. Since just before Xmas he has been sick almost every night. I’ve tried changing his food, starving him for 24 hours and giving him chicken and rice, we’ve been to the vets and he’s had blood tests which didn’t show anything unusual so the vet gave him an injection to stop the vomitting. First one was a 14 day one, which worked – no sickness for 2 whole weeks. On day 15 he started being sick again, so back to the vets who then gave him an injection that should have lasted a month. That was last Thursday, but on Monday night he started being sick again and has been sick every night since then. I feed him on Whiskas pouches with a small amount of dried food for him to nibble on. He doesn’t go out, has been wormed, he’s still likes to play and as soon as he’s been sick he goes to eat some more. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I just don’t know what to do next.

I have 3 purebred cats. they were given to me and have had constant diarrhea since they came home. They are otherwise active and bright eyed. they don’t seem sick at all.
I have tried changing diet. I think it made things worse.
I have had one litter of kittens from them and all where well and showed no sign of the problem.
Im about to try worming them again. I can only use a spot on as none of them will be closely handled yet, although they are getting used to me and im allowed to hold them now.
Im also going to start putting lactose free yogurt in their night time meal.
they are on a diet of dry food. medium brand. im changing that to home as i think it will be more bland and maybe they will handle it better.
they will go to the vet if it goes on for much longer but im trying to avoid a trip to the vet if i can.
if there are any other suggestions , i would appreciate them.
thanks heaps.

I left my 4-month old kitten with friends (and their 4 cats) last week while I was out of town. He’s been back in my apt for two days, and now I’m noticing worms in his stool. I thought he was healthy when I dropped him off at my friends – could he have picked up worms from their cats that quickly?
I have to leave town again this weekend. I’ll try to get him treated before I leave, but I assume all the cats will need to be treated? Is it ok to leave him with the same cats again?
Thanks for any advice.
