My husband just noticed and removed a very small worm from the rectum of our cat. We saved it to take with us to the vet in the morning. I’m wondering what kind of worm it is, how she could have gotten it, and other than taking her to the vet in the morning, what we should do? The worm was very small – about a 1/4 inch long and white in color. She is an indoor cat – she never goes outside. We only feed her Iams cat food, and we use Feline Pine litter (the pellets). Ideas, suggestions? Should we pay the extra fee to take her to the vet tonight or is it ok to wait until tomorrow morning? Also, I have 2 other cats – should I be concerned about them? They are up to date on all their shots and check-ups.

My Kitty TIgre has thrown up for the past two days 4 times.
There’s no hair or worms in the puke. I called the vet, and she said it was normal since I am giving him sulfadimet for this parasite he has. My question is how can I make it better for him, he’s obviously upset, and sad, and it breaks my heart. Is there anything I can do besides pet him?

I need some advice. I have a cat this is over weight. I use to feed her Iams but she started getting really bad gas and horrible poos. I ruled out parasites. Then I switched her food to Wellness which a holistic diet. It does not contain by products, corn, soy, wheat, or artificial flavors. Her gas has gotten better (still has some) but her poos are still horrible. It did all of this about 3 weeks to a month ago. I am starting to change the amount she eats and feed her smaller portions several times a day so she does not eat so much at once. I just did not want to do too many changes at once.
How long does it take for you to really notice a change after switching foods? What else do you recommend to help her lose weight? What do you recommend for her gas?
Thanks for your help.

hello, i found a 6 month old kitten at a barn one day and just couldn’t leave him there. he had worms and parasites but its been treated and now he is totally healthy. he is almost 8 mothns now and during the day when i am at school i keep him outside, he has a cat house. when i return i keep him indoors. he is up to date with all his shots and flea stuff. i was wondering how to now if he is happy. he always wants affection, am i not giving him enough? do cats usually adjust to the schdule he is on? also what are ways to train him not to jump on counters? someone told me a spray bottle but it doesn’t work, he actually likes it.

Okay, for about 2-3 weeks lately, I’ve been having constipation and when I do have a bowel movement, it’s not as much as it should be. This struck me as alarming so I went and saw several doctors and got cat scans, which showed everything is alright.
So please, first off don’t recommend me to see a doctor – I already did.
The only thing that showed up on the cat scan was a cyst on my right ovary which my doctor said was completely normal and harmless and should go away on it’s own. I was ovulating.
So that brings me to this: I’m wondering, might I have parasites?
How can I tell if I have parasites?
Better yet, how do I get rid of parasites naturally?
How do I get my bowel movements back to normal?
Normally, I have about 3 bowel movements a day.
Lately, I’ve been having like 1 movement every couple of days which is not normal to me.
How do I regulate my bowel movements?
I’ve also had strained urination and the doctor said there’s no explanation for that.
Please help with meaningful suggestions!! Thanks. I’m only 18 by the way.

firstly, work this out for me, she was born on 20th september. although I was told she was 8 weeks old – doesn’t this work out that she is just over 6 weeks old ?
The poor thing needs to be with it’s mother for at least 8 weeks don’t they ?
She ate some cat food, but does she still need her mums milk ?
How can I care for her properly without her mum around ? Do I give her baby (human) formula milk ? Do I carry on giving kitten food ? Shall I wet it with water ? (it’s the dry Go Cat complete stuff).
Where shall I put her to sleep ? In our room ? on our bed ? on her own downstairs ? With or without Lola the 10 week old ?
I’m so new to this. But I love them so much already I want the best for them !
I’ve got a 10 week old kitten too who I’ve only had a week, so I need to please her too.
I’m angry as I wouldn’t have taken her had I know this age.
ALSO – please don’t judge, I’m not happy about this situation, but we lost our jobs, and get housing benefit etc, will PDSA help with jabs etc ? I’ve given them treatment for worms and fleas today so that is fine. Will they see Miya the 6 week old for free ? I don’t mind paying of course, but things are tight.
poor thing x

ok…I work for an animal shelter but this shelter doesn’t really care for the strays and dumps that keep showing up behind our shelter. They just let them stay out there and never try to do anything about them. They feed them but thats it. I on the other hand do try to help. I have over the past few years taken home personally about 5 of them and placed them into homes after vetting them fully (testing, shots, spays and neuters, flea treatment, etc). I have one I took home in March who is about 10 or 11 in age, I have already invested almost 400 dollars into him (lots of dental work was needed, rotten teeth). He is now doing so much better but I am sure I will never place him. He was on the brink of death when I found him. Currently I have taken home one of the pregnant strays who was hanging around for months and would never let me near her. She would eat the food provided but thats it.Well she had her baby’s outside last week in the back of a pickup truck with lots of scrap metal in it. I got all of them and even the mama too. Turns out she is a very nice girl. So now I have her and her 6 fat healthy baby’s. They are only about a week and a half old. I will foster her till her babies are weaned and then I will let the shelter place them into homes when all of them are ready.
There are many cats out there who rely on the food the shelter provides for them. One in particular I want to take home. I feel so bad for this guy. He has been out there for about 7 months or so. He is kinda bad looking. Half his tail is missing. He looks kinda mangy. He has HORRIBLE diarrhea…it just drops from his butt like liquid. His back end is very nasty looking and his anus is very inflamed. He has become quite friendly with me over the last few weeks. He rubs against my legs and wants to be petted. His demeanor has changed from very shy to almost overly friendly. I am going to be taking him home Thursday night and taking him to my vet on Friday expecting of course a huge bill lol. I did vaccinate, frontline, worm (for roundworms), and gave him an injection of Cestoved (treatment for tapeworms). Just to get the preliminary’s out the way. This poor guy deserves a chance I think. I hope to god he is Negative for Felv/FIV. I have many cats of my own and 2 dogs as well so I am running literally Noahs Ark in my home lol. I know to keep him isolated untill he is healthier. He seems rather friendly with the other stray cats out there. I just want some advice or just a response to this tale of whoa.
As for other shelters in my local area…thats out of the question. All they do is deny help and or say they will euthanize them. My shelter is of no help. If it doesn’t involve them making a profit…they want nothing to do with it. This is the truth, hard to believe i know but its no lie.
I worry about many of these kitty’s out there for the winter time is approaching and its gets very cold. I cant see all of them making it through the winter. Some are very skinny. I say currently there are about 7 or 8 strays who come around for food every day. I’m sure there are more I don’t see, but about 7 or 8 regulars.
This is truly sad. There is also a mama kitty who gave birth last weekend but something happened and I found all of her babies dead outside. I am not sure if a raccoon killed them or not. Some were bleeding and kinda chewed up looking. I have to try and catch her soon b4 she is indeed prego again. Sigh…. will it ever end? (screams No!)

Heya
A few days ago we combed my cat and we found some parasites. We assumed fleas so we combed her completly and used the defleaing lotion on her as well.
Today I’ve gotten up and she isn;t opening one of her eyes fully, theres a yellowey green discharge and around her eye is moisty.
Dad thinks its conjunctivitus..
A few things to note: Shes been shedding ALOT recently,
Her appetite is normal, she eats 2-3 pouches a day with some dry food
Shes in inside and outside cat, comes and goes as she pleases.
