We’ve adopted a stray cat who is infested with Tape Worm. We have tried putting the flour in different foods but he knows it’s there and won’t eat it. The worms are making him very irritable and we want to help him. Has any one any tips? Worm tablets are out, as he is HUGE and would probably eat me!

Is one treatment really enough? Worms have cycles so how do you know that the eggs are killed too? I got it through the vet so they should know what they are talking about. I was told that if I was worried about this that I could do it again in 2 months. He is an indoor cat so won’t be getting re-infected from eating mice but I swear he must have had worms since I adopted him although I was told that he was treated with a de-wormer. It was just by chance that I saw one in his stool (SCREAM). Also after I gave it to him he threw up although I don’t know how long after, but how do I know it was long enough for the pill to work? His throw up was a mix of his food and peaces of tape worms (OMG). He has thrown up in the past but I have never seen worms in it. Does this mean it was working? Normally I would just call his vet, but it’s the weekend. Can anyone help?
I love my little guy and want him to be healthy!
Thank you!! =)

I’m asking because if it costs a lot, then my mom says we’re gonna have to give our less than 1 year old kitten to the humane society because we can’t afford to keep paying medical bills for our pets. I looked online and it said that there would be a like 4 treatments or wtvr to fully get rid of the worms :S But I didn’t see anything about how much it would cost.

I would like to learn.
Also, is there a difference on how they do it and on how vets do it? The same?
If the same, then why do vets check for what type of worms cats have and all of that other stuff they tend to advice you on before they do anything to the cat?

My 13 week old kitten was using the litter box. He now is using a hidden corner in my living room. His stool is loose and he has blood in it as of this morning. He has had his first part of de-worming.
