It was white, had a tapered tail, but why was it in its food? I havnt seen any in its poo
where in the world did the worms come from. she has no flea’s. her eating habits havent changed and she doesnt appear to be sick. the worms are small and kinda grayish in color. definately not white and they are small. recently i had an over infeastation of fly’s in my apt. at first i thought the worms were maggots. my mom said maggots are maggots. i thought flys came from maggots. i have 2 cats but only one has worms. my other cat which ive had for 15 years wont poo in the litter box. never has. she poo’s in tub. i know i know gross but at least it isnt on the carpet or worse yet my bed lol. i cant afford a vet right now and i heard over the counter de wormers dont work. can someone please advise me what i should do? thanks
hi. i just finished a bag of cat food and just realized that there were maggots or worms in it. my cats must have eaten some of them. is it dangerous for them?
Near my cats litterbox, and their food (their both in the same room, probably like 3 feet apart). Theres little black worm like bugs, some with white tails. These worms are pretty small, mabe 1/6 inch. What are they?
I live in a carpeted apartment with my Dad and my Cat. Today I was bending to pick up some kibble(my cats dry food) from the carpeted floor, when I saw a yellow and black striped worm looking thing about the width of your pinky nail attached to the kibble like sucking on it ewww just thinking about it makes me sick. What could this have been? There were 3 of them I think.
My 6 year Russian Blue started to have diarrhea (sometimes with a little blood) about 3 months ago, so I took him to the vet. They treated him for parasites with meds, probiotics for his system regulaton. and prescription food. He was miserable and NOT getting better. They wanted to put him on steroids for possible IBD. That was when I researched the internet and learned about feeding better food. I tried several brands to find one he would eat. He would get better for a few days and then it was back to the diarrhea. So, I tried making my own food but he wouldn’t eat it. Then, I was at the store and saw Wellness advertised “Grain Free.” I thought maybe he is grain intolerant. He loves the Wellness and his stool was getting better, he was gaining weight and have a lot of energy. This was for about 5 or 6 days. I thought he was cured! Now for two days he has gone back to very loose stool. I am so frustrated. How long does it take for a cat to get used to new food? What else can I do?
We adopted our cat Izzy about 6 months ago. She’s a persian estimated to be about 4 years old. She was found wandering the streets & shortly after we got her we noticed her diarrhea, we took her to the vet & the ran some tests thinking that she had parasites from living on the streets, even with the diarrhea she managed to put some weight on. They switched her food to a canned prescription diet which she did eat, but did not like. About 2 months ago we were told that the A/D canned cat food was not acceptable for a long term diet, since then we have tried many other canned cat foods & her diarrhea is fine with all of the canned foods, however, she does not like them, we have also tried many dry foods, which she loves, we’ve tried different varieties for sensitive stomachs, organic versians and ones without corn or gluten & all of them give her diarrhea. We only try about 1 T of dry mixed with the moist. The problem is that she does not like the moist food & is beginning to lose weight.
I was wondering about the benefits and deficits of a raw food diet for my cat, considering that in nature cats would eat raw meat. I am aware of the risks for parasites and I know that livestock and dogs eat certain plants that rid them of stomach parasites, particularly clover because it contains tannins. I also know that cranberries contain tannins and have recently been added to many commercial cat foods, but because cats are carnivores I am unsure to whether or not they would be able to digest the fruit. Also, this website has a recipe for raw cat food and I was wondering if it is correct: www.wikihow.com/Make-Raw-Cat-Food . I would inform my veterinarian of this decision before I enacted it but just was curious.
At around 6 months old Gingerella was ill with a virus, (2 years ago) & lost alot of weight. She is very fast & agile, I feed her extra during the day (mainly tinned tuna) & the latest anti parasite/flea/tick medication – stronghold – has not made any difference to her weight. We live in Greece & it’s now hot, we have plenty of trees, shade & cooler places that our (6) cats frequent – they live mainly outside & are fed a good diet. The other cats are all healthy. Do you have any ideas or information that can assist us to get Gingerella back to perfect health. This would be much appreciated as we lack good vet system here. Thank you
I picked a cat up from a shelter yesterday, and it’s been 24 hours since he’s eaten any food. He’s an 8 month old male, and very comfortable in my apartment. Normally, cat’s hide for a day or two under the bed, but he was affectionate as soon as we took him out of his carrying cage. He slept in my bed last night, relaxed on the floor while I watched TV…etc so he doesn’t seem to be scared. I gave him different flavors of Fancy Feast and he won’t even smell the food for more than a second. He was a little interested in the Eukanuba kitten formula I also had in a bowl, but just licked it instead of eating any. He didn’t eat the Authority brand either. I’m just worried because he’s already very thin, and seems to want to eat very badly. It was never this bad with any other cat I’ve owned. Is there something I can do about it?
Some other bits of information:
He’s not sick, and tested negative for parasites.
He was living with several cats in the shelter
