I’m 5 months pregnant and just found out that my cats have 3 different types of worms (which I have been infected with as well) and I’m still awaiting results on the toxoplasmosis. Oh yes and they have fleas too. They were healthy cats for the 7 years I’ve had them, but all of this junk has come up just since I’ve been pregnant. What luck.
I live alone (husband is overseas) and my mom came to help me clean my one room apartment so that the cats, who are now on medication, don’t re-infect themselves. I haven’t been treated yet, and once the other results come in, I will have to make the decision whether to continue the pregnancy, take dangerous drugs to try and fight the infections, or opt out of treatment and see what happens.
I’m scared to death of my cats now. They live in my bed, on the couch, and one just ran through the dishes I had drying on the counter. And after everything has just been decently decontaminated I’m worried about living here now. I mean- should I get rid of the cats, or see them through treatment and myself through mine? I feel bad because they are such wonderful creatures. Plus, nobody is willing to watch them or adopt them, and all shelters in the area are full. If I got rid of them, I don’t know where they would go. They have never been outdoors a day in their lives, and how they got these things, we have no idea. I’m devastated though. What on earth should I do?

I think my young cat may have worms. he is not vomiting or losing Weight. He seems normal. However, we have noticed in his feces, little white grains (rice looking particles). They are not live or moving it just looks like he ingested rice. Are these some type of worm???

I adopted a stray cat that was already an adult and would like to take her home with me to an EU country. I know I need a “health certificate” to import her. My dog-owner friend says I can’t get a health certificate because there are certain shots a cat needs *as a kitten* (this is true, I know), but I can’t prove that this cat had those shots at that time and even if I got them now it would be at the wrong age.
I thought the health certificate only had to prove that the cat has no diseases or parasites and has had all the shots that she can get at this age. I don’t think it should matter what shots she did or didn’t get as a kitten as long as she’s healthy and vaccinated now.
Anyone know for sure?
Thanks!

I’ve heard you need to give cats a shot when they eat birds or else they get parasites that can kill them.

-I have 2 cats both male
-Both are fixed
-One is about 3 years old
-The other is about 6 or 7 months
-Both are up to date on shots
-Both were strays that I took in as kittens
Anyways the younger male cat, critter, has worms. I’m going to get pills to worm him from my vet, who is pretty good about cost and everything, but how often should he be wormed? He was wormed in January when he got his shots. Since he is an indoor/outdoor cat (They both go outside and come in and sleep in my bed with me at night) should he be wormed monthly? I don’t want to ask the vet I go to and him tell me yes, when it isn’t necessary.
Do I give them flea treatments monthly as well?
Also my cat Critter (the younger one) who just got fixed has been beating up my other cat Apollo (who is about 3 years old), I thought that getting him fixed might make him calm down a little more, which it has in every other way. Is there anything I can do about this? Apollo doesn’t fight back and I am not always around to break it up.
Anything else I should know in general about cat health?

Unfortunately i live in a neighborhood where ALOT of stray cats wander around. And the worse thing is they poop everywhere near my house and my neighbor’s. I do try to chase them away before they can do it but unfortunately i cant keep track of it all the time. Now it reeks every where i go in my side of the neighborhood. Is the smell going to affect my health in any way?

I decided to switch to this over Purina Indoor formula due to hearing corn based products are not good to feed cats. Anyone have any feedback on this product??? Thanks!
