i have lymph nodes on my neck. the bigger one was taken out 2 weeks ago so. the doctor had no idea what cause me having all those lymph nodes so they have to take out one as a sample and bring it to the lab to examine it.
i finally got the result 3 days ago. the result is – the reason i have those lymph nodes is because toxoplasmosis. it is a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan toxoplasma gondii. one source said – the parasite infect most warm-blooded animals, including humans but the primary host is CAT.
the doctor advised me to get rid of the cat, by simply saying – give it away. but i love cat. i love having cat as one of my family. i have a dog too.
is there any way i can do to keep my cat? by giving it a vaccine injection, will it help?

I live in South West Florida, I have a large 75 gallon tank that could house this bug sucker. I caught him with a regular pole with a worm .
Anyway, I would have to move my guppies, cory cats, and platies out of the big tank. Should i do it?
Right now I have him in a quarantine tank, and im treating him for fungus and parasites.
He is about 5-6 inches long

Take it to the vet. If you saw small worms that look kind of like little pieces of rice, those are tapeworm segments. The vet will give your cat Drontol/praziquantel to get rid of them. If you saw some other worms, your cat will get a different dewormer. The ones you buy in stores don’t work well, get the one from your vet.

I just noticed something the size of a grain of rice on his butt and when i pulled it off with a napkin, it was in fact a little white worm. I have two other cats, but I’ve never dealt with worm problems before. Can i buy something over the counter, or do I have to go to the vet? Can my other cats get them too? Please help.

My kitty (seamus) has tapeworms and am picking up medication for him tomorrow but am curious if i should him get him a new litter box too or is it ok if i just clean it out and wash it real well.

I know I should worm my 10-month old cat every three months, but we only got her a few weeks ago. The people she came from had only had her temporarily, so there’s really no way to tell when she was last wormed. I haven’t seen any symptoms, but I’ve read that it’s best to treat worms BEFORE you see any, regardless. So my question is, if I choose to worm her, and she HAS actually been wormed in the last three months without my knowing, is there any chance that the medication will harm her?

I know that mostly dogs and cats have worms but i think i have it. We’ve been taking care of two dogs and i think i’ve swollowed hair. I also had diaria for days now,stomach aches,and pains in my stomach and heart. Im getting medication today and i’ve been eating garlic and bread. I dont know how big it is…im just really scared because i heard someone almost died because of it and that they removed a worm almost a a foot long, it got twisted up in the guts….i know this is really gross and disturbing but do you thing i have worms? Please be considerate im freked out as it is….

I read that catnip doesn’t affect all cats but two thirds of them. Right now her bed is in a pet carrier in an upstairs toilet with light on – not a very bright light or anything – and the air ventilator is on too (for fresher air) and the catnip cushion is next to the pet carrier.
We took her to the vet today and turns out she has fleas as we thought. Vet gave her a broad spectrum antibiotic injection, anti-worm pill, “Advocat” anti-flea drops, antibiotic cream/gel stuff for her eyes (that we gotta put in her eyes daily for a week) – said she might have a touch of cat flu. €60 in all, that’s about $85. Ireland is expensive for vet care. Also got flea drops for our Yorkie (to be safe) So, that’s the vet stuff done for the moment – didn’t get her any vaccinations, not yet anyway.
Have to buy some anti-flea spray or something (someone said regular anti-ant spray does the trick?) for the house and set to work on that because we certainly don’t want fleas running around the place! Also bought flea/mite/lice treatment stuff for ourselves (put it on the head and leave it for 12 hours before rinsing – lovely, lol) I’m convincing myself they are trying to eat me and crawling around on me…….might (mite!) be……

My mother in law is staying with us for the weekend. Her dog is still at her house but it has worms. We have a 7 yr old cat and a 1 yr old kitten. Should I be worried that my cats could get worms indirectly?

We were playing (well, I was sitting.. I’m 33 wks pregnant) outside and my son wandered over to the grassy area. He had been playing on the driveway. Anyways, all of a sudden I hear him saying, ‘Dirt, Dirt’ and I look at him and he’s got brow ‘dirt’ all over his hands and mouth and is making a face like, YUCK (of course!). When I get to him, I see that it’s not dirt.. but cat poop in the dirt!!!! I was mortified. I immdeately brought him in, washed his hands, face and mouth. I attempted to wash his mouth out by by that time there wasn’t much in there. I called my pediatrician but had to leave a message and I should get a call by the end of the work day. This cat does belong to us but it’s never been treated for anything. I’m so worried about parasites and worms!!!EWWWWWW!
