I just noticed something the size of a grain of rice on his butt and when i pulled it off with a napkin, it was in fact a little white worm. I have two other cats, but I’ve never dealt with worm problems before. Can i buy something over the counter, or do I have to go to the vet? Can my other cats get them too? Please help.

ok, i’m looking at getting a puppy, and the litter i’ve chosen will be released at 6 weeks. it’s coming with wormer, flea treatment & insurance – BUT, i keep hearing and reading that dogs should not be released until 8 weeks. why? we got our german shepherd from some real unsavoury characters at 6 weeks old, he was riddled with worms and we did him a favour to take him early, and he grew up to be the kindest dog ever known to man, dog and cat! so can someone tell me why a dog being released at 6 weeks is apparently so bad?

I recently left my 4mo old kitten with my friend, and got him back a little over a week ago. His hair started coming off his face and ears, and I took him to the vet last Monday. He was diagnosed with mange, even though the skin scraping proved negative. The doctor gave him a shot, which I was rather shocked to find out today that intravenous treatment for mange can be deadly for cats!
Since then, my kitten has had yellowish poop, with the consistency of pancake batter. I don’t see any sort of worms or blood in it. He was wormed and vaccinated 3 weeks ago. None of her cats are sick, that I know of.
Other then that, he seems happy, purring all the time, playing, with his usual napping. I can’t tell if he’s dehydrated or not, but as I write this he’s lunged from another chair to attack my head, so he isn’t lethargic. I’ve been giving him a little rice with his canned food, and putting extra water too. I haven’t taken him to the vet yet since…will he be alright until tomorrow?

firstly, work this out for me, she was born on 20th september. although I was told she was 8 weeks old – doesn’t this work out that she is just over 6 weeks old ?
The poor thing needs to be with it’s mother for at least 8 weeks don’t they ?
She ate some cat food, but does she still need her mums milk ?
How can I care for her properly without her mum around ? Do I give her baby (human) formula milk ? Do I carry on giving kitten food ? Shall I wet it with water ? (it’s the dry Go Cat complete stuff).
Where shall I put her to sleep ? In our room ? on our bed ? on her own downstairs ? With or without Lola the 10 week old ?
I’m so new to this. But I love them so much already I want the best for them !
I’ve got a 10 week old kitten too who I’ve only had a week, so I need to please her too.
I’m angry as I wouldn’t have taken her had I know this age.
ALSO – please don’t judge, I’m not happy about this situation, but we lost our jobs, and get housing benefit etc, will PDSA help with jabs etc ? I’ve given them treatment for worms and fleas today so that is fine. Will they see Miya the 6 week old for free ? I don’t mind paying of course, but things are tight.
poor thing x

Hello everyone,
We have a 14 week old kitten that we found at 2 weeks old as a feral/stray cat. We work with a rescue group, and kept her because she has seizures. For the last 2 weeks, she has had diarrhea. We had introduced hard food into her diet, and about a week into it, the diarrhea started. I waited a few days for it to clear up and it did not. So, we discontinued the hard food. The diarrhea still continued. We are now at the 2 week mark, and it is still continuing. A few days ago she started a tincture for her seizures. We started putting a bit of rice in her food to calm her stomach, but she is throwing that up. She’s still hungry, not dehydrated, and plays fine. We’re going to deworm her again tomorrow, thinking parasites could possibly be the cause. What else could be the cause of this?

My 4 months old kitten have a bad case of roundworms and he got de-wormed with Drontal in a vet office. He pooped out a clump of worms, which is great. For a week and half he still have diarrhea and pot belly. He’s still gassy and skinny even though I fed him Wellness pouches and Natural Balance canned food as much as he wants and free feed him Chicken Soup for Cat’s Lover kitten chow. He’s still lethargic and isn’t growing up at all.
So, is it possible he’s been re-infested? I even cleaned all over my apt and washed his litter boxes with vinegar and replace sand every day for 5 days after he took Drontal pill as told by vet.
