I just got home from work and was greeted with what I at first assumed was a regular good old every day fur ball, with just a hint of vomit to make it special… When I went to clean it up though weird thoughts occurred to me. Did one of my cats eat rubber bands?
When did I purchase rubber bands?
Then…
Why are the rubber bands moving?
So, I have figured out that at least one of my three cats has worms and I don’t know which cat. I am guessing ring worms. I am going to make a journey to the vet Saturday and want to mentally prepare myself. None of my other cats have ever had worms, so I do not know what to expect.
I am guessing that I have to throw out all their litter and bleach the litter boxes. Also, I should bleach the area around their boxes. Right?
Bowls and eating area should be thoroughly bleached too, I am guessing.
But I feel like there is more that I should do. Do I have to steam clean the couch or bed or anything that drastic? Fear of all fears, do I have to give them a bath? Only one out of three would let me get away with that and the other two would be out for blood.
I’d appreciate any advice. My three cats are barely a year old and were rescued. They are siblings.
Oh and I saved a sample of the vomit and two worms in an empty baby food jar. Is it ok to freeze it? I hate the thought of them escaping….

It is a type of parasite which half of the world’s human population have. But I don’t eat other animals so it is probably less likely that I have it than other people.
But than again, I do like cats a lot.

I have been having serious issues regarding my 6 month old chi’s skin/coat. I’ve taken her to the vet several times and they are not helping one bit, only clearing out my wallet. My dog has hair loss in patches, extremely dry skin, tiny round scabs on the top of her head, and extreme tear-stains. She never had this up until about 1 1/2 months ago. The vet tested for any parasites/mange, and there was none. He said it could be food allergies, so I switched to an allergen food, and nothing has helped. Her tear stains are getting really bad, even though I clean them all the time. She never had this up until recently. It seems my cat also is getting little bald patches on her fur… what is wrong with my pets?

A Couple times i have noticed a slight, light red blood in my 10 year old cats stool, but its not frequently…
I’ve taken a sample with no apparent blood to the vet and they annolized it and said that there was no parasite, but they gave me this medicine to help with it.
Should i be more concerned, or will this pass?
And is it normal for a cat to make a strange coohing noise.
Whenever i call my cats name he coohs, like hes trying to talk back to me. Does anyone else experience this?

my kitty cat is pregnant, probably about 5-6 weeks along, today I notice that she had one of those rice grain lookin worms around her anus… this is the only one I’ve seen and it was earlier this morning… I’ve called around vets in my area and they all want a lot of money, and right now my husband and I are pinching pennies. Anyway, I read online that you shouldn’t treat pregnant cats for worms unless you go to the vet and get a special de-worming medicine for pregnant cats…. My question is if any of you had something similar to what is going on with me, and if the baby kitties will live? I’m going to get Cupcake (the mama) spayed as soon as she delivers, but I am worried about the babies…. any advice?

I know, I know, I should ask the vet, and of course I want to, but my mother is not one to favor this cat, and she only allowed her in the first place because she has a job. She is a mouser and bug-eater, she does her job well, but is a dear cat to me.
Heres the deal, She grew up the first six months as a semi-ferrel cat at a fire academy. She had a traumatic experience at the age of two months, where she was lost and starved for two weeks. She made a great recovery and was a normal (but somewhat violent cat) for seven years.
I noticed that she started licking the fur off her stomach this year, and the licking spread to her front arms, inside of hind quarters and now the outside of them.
She sometimes purrs constantly, which is VERY out of character for her. This purring is accompanied by labored breathing at times.
Recently her abdomen has been firm feeling as well.
I’m thinking a long term worm or parasite infection. Im going to try to get her to a vet ASAP.
Thanks you guys.

Hi all, my pregnant cat’s nipples look wrong.
I’ve only seen one pregnant cat before, and her nipples were big and pink, looked healthy. My cat instead has black, scabby dots around the nipples and a whitish scab on the tip, all around a darkened appearance. It just doesn’t look right, has anyone had any experience of this?
Hope the photo links below works. They are photos of the last two sets of nipples. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m270/…http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m270/…
Worrying, isn’t it? She is otherwise healthy, her coat is shiny, she eats plenty and drinks lots, her toilet output normal. This is her first (and last!) litter of kittens and she is about one year old.
Is it a parasite causing this? Is it normal adjustment scabs? Am I worried for nothing? I have booked a vet appointment, but in the meantime I thought I’d ask you guys, to have an idea of what it might be.
Thanks!

I have three completely indoor cats, all female…ages 9 years, 4 years, and 1 year old.
I am pregnant so I have been off of litter box duty, but I still feed them. They eat downstairs in the basement, and their litter boxes are on the opposite side of the basement, so it’s hard to monitor what they are doing down there.
This morning when I fed them, I went to the litter boxes just to make sure hubby’s been taking care of the cleaning, and I noticed some feces on the floor next to one of the boxes. I looked closer, and it looked like there was a little pooling of blood with the feces.
I started to panic. I laid down a whole new box with brand new fresh litter, because I really can’t go rummaging through the other boxes looking for other blood. I went away for a bit and when I came back, they had used the new box but as far as I could tell there was no blood in it, and the stools looked fine.
I’m very worried. First off, I don’t know which cat it could be. Is there any way to determine this without taking them all to the vet? I’m not wondering if it’s harmful to them, because I have a feeling it is, I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to narrow down who the poor sick kitty might be?
(Also, I can’t see that it would be a parasite since they are all indoor cats).

first, let me tell you this–
my fiance and i have 2 dogs and a 1 year old cat…
our room-mate has a 6 year old cat.
he allows his cat to go outside, we do not. there are so many stray cats in the neighborhood i’d hate for her to get hurt. and she’s perfectly happy indoors.
anyways..
his cat has worms.
and has had worms leaking from its butt for the past month.
i told him about it the day i noticed it, and he said “with this many animals, we wont be able to fight off the worms and the bacteria”
i haven’t had a problem with worms, i give my dogs/cat the appropriate medicine and shots when they need them.
im scared that my dogs will get worms from eating his cats poo.
[we do not allow it. but sometimes when we're at work or not able to watch them, they think they're sneaky and grab a cat turd.... sick.]
is it wrong for me to get his cat the medicine and give it to him secretly?

All kittens are born with worms that they get from their mother. Just make sure they are dewrmed starting a 2 weeks of age and deworm them every 2 weeks for 3 treatments. Deworm mom at the same time. AS lond as they are dewormed, it shouldn’t cause any problems. Also make sure you wash your hands are handling them. Although rare, humans can get worms
