Tiny Black Worms In Cats Bed
Q: Why are there tiny black worms wiggling around my cats bed?
A: Without actually seeing them, this could be one of several things. They could be flea larvae. It could be 'flea dirt', which is 'flea poo' which are black because that is the colour of blood when it is excreted (in humans as well as other animals - this is caused by a heat reaction which is similar to the process of making 'black pudding).
It is most likely to be the result of fleas, although if unsure, a vet should always be consulted. As ever, if it is fleas, then you cat, and home should be treated with the correct preparations which are available over the counter, over the internet (see below), and from your vet. It may not sound like too serious a problem at the moment, but fleas can carry parasites, so it is important to ensure that your cats and home are flea free.
